6 months post-op
Today was 6 month since my lap-band surgery and I truly cannot believe it has been that long! Things are going great, I feel awesome, am thrilled with my progress and my docs (both surgeon and oncologist) are too. I have had very few issues in my 6 months, 1 overfill that was technically my own fault and a tight day here and there (with an elephant visit). Those are to be expected though. I would definitely recommend this surgery, it has been the best thing that I have ever done for myself.
Being on the *smaller* side now though, has truly revealed how society is. When I was heavier, there was a definite difference in the way people look at you and treat you…sad really. I am still not used to the amount of attention I now get and probably never will get used to it, considering I was on the *larger* side for so long. We shall see. Bryan says he can definitely tell that I have my self-confidence back, a little closer to the person he married perhaps?!
Here are my stats at 6 months….
Starting weight – 232
6 month weight – 166.4
Total weight lost – 65.6
Starting BMI – 41.09 (morbidly obese)
6 month BMI – 29.47 (overweight)
Starting clothes size – 22 (bottoms)/2-3X (shirts)
6 month clothes size – 12 (bottoms)/L (shirts)
Starting running time – probably about 1-2 minutes
6 month running time – 50+ minutes straight

Oh I really do need to get my butt in gear, you’ve passed me! By about half a pound or a pound or so. The race is on now! :-P
You are doing wonderful! I’m so happy for you, I can see your smile beams.
You are truly incredible and my hero! Now get out of those baggy clothes and post a picture that shows how amazing you really look!
Well done – you’ve achieved a wonderful result in just six months. You’ve worked hard and you’re reaping the benefits. You look and sound terrific.
You are doing an amazing job of working that tool girlfriend!! Work it, work it, own it! Thanks for sharing this journey with us!
You are such an inspiration Lacey!!! Whenever I struggle you always post things like this, or talk about how you struggle and just get back on the horse it helps me to just get back on the horse as well!!!
Thank you for sharing yourself in this manner. I wished that I had done this as well and progressed my weight loss like this!
There are days where I feel so down, or I eat something that wasn’t really okay for me either… And I just humble myself before the Lord because without him I am nothing. Without him opening up the doors I wouldn’t be where I am today! :)
