{almost} famous | part I | real life of cancer

Back in 2008 when I was diagnosed with cancer (chronic lymphocytic leukemia), I can remember feeling lost. Angry. Sad. And a thousand other adjectives. I didn’t have any clue why this was happening to me and what God wanted me to do with it. I still don’t necessarily have all those answers, but I can remember a coworker telling me I was going to do great things with it. She is the reason I decided to be open and transparent about my journey. The good. The bad. And the ugly. I wanted people to know that you could still live life, even with a cancer diagnosis. If you chose to.

I have met some fantastic people who share this journey through my blog and Instagram. People I would have never had the chance to meet had I hid from life. And if I can inspire one person to push through on a bad day, this whole journey will be worth it.

Recently, I have had a few fun opportunities to share my story on a bigger platform and while I am not an extrovert, put myself in front of the crowd type of person, I am happy that my story can reach more people!

Last week I was honored to be featured on the Trail Running Women Podcast. I have listened to Hilary’s podcast for at least a year now and love her real life, down to earth attitude.

We chatted about my diagnosis, support system, and running. I’m not going to lie, the beginning was quite awkward on my end. Then I relaxed and got in the groove. You may or may not be able to tell, but my family sure could.

Go take a listen and let me know what you think!
