Getaway 2009

Bryan and I had a fabulous time this weekend, it was really nice to be able to get away. We stayed for two nights out at Baytowne Wharf  in Sandestin.

Friday, we left after Bry got off work and headed to Fort Walton Beach. Went to the AT&T store to get our iPhones and came out with none (don’t EVEN get me started there). Headed to Tijuana Flats where I think I found my new favorite dessert, chocolate chip cookie dough flautas (yes, I was ignoring calories all weekend). From there, we went to Fired Up! and made ice cream bowls for each other. Then, off to the hotel to get checked in and freshen up before dinner at Cheeseburger in Paradise. From there, we went to the Rave and saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. It was long, but really made you think.

Saturday, we slept in a bit and then headed to an awesome breakfast/brunch at Another Broken Egg Cafe. Afterward, we browsed around The Village of Baytowne Wharf shops. From there, we headed to the Silver Sands Outlet Center to shop and eat (gelato and cookie sandwich for late lunch…LOL). We wanted to go race go-karts, but The Track was closed (would have been nice for them to have put that on their website, since I checked) so we headed to the Speed Track in Fort Walton Beach, only to discover it had been shut down due to safety issues. So, instead we went by The Fresh Market on the way back to the hotel and picked up a bunch of foods that I can’t get at the commissary (hummus…yummy). We chilled for a while and then went to The Melting Pot for dinner. I drank my glass of wine a little too fast and discovered that alcohol definitely affects me differently now. After dinner, we headed back to the hotel.

Sunday, we got up, got dressed and checked out. Came back to the house and picked up Mom and Jacey for church. It was nothing extravagant, but it was really nice to just get away.
